PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the rate of operation and the division ratio by rapidly removing the jamming of a division box without stopping the carriage to other division boxes when the jamming is detected at an inlet of the division box during the carriage, and re-starting the division of the division box. SOLUTION: Storage of paper sheets is stopped only for a division box 55 in which jamming is generated, a gate 33 is turned OFF during the stop time, the paper sheets are passed and divided into other division boxes by using division box inlet jamming detecting means (inlet sensors 21, 22), and division box condition communicating means (lamps 41, 42) to communicate the condition of the division box in division boxes 55, 56. Jamming is notified to an operator by blinking the lamps of the division box condition communicating means 41, and the jammed paper sheets are removed by the operator to allow the paper sheets 23 to be stored in the division box 55.
