摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing a catalyst for reforming a hydrocarbon having a small amount of a supported noble metal and producing a small amount of a deposited carbon in use. SOLUTION: This method for preparing a catalyst for reforming a hydrocarbon comprises (i) a first step for providing a support magnesium oxide having <=5 m2/g specific surface area, (ii) a second step for supporting rhodium and/or ruthenium in an amount of 10-5,000 (wt.ppm) based on the support magnesium oxide expressed in terms of the metals on the support magnesium oxide within an alkaline region of pH >=8 using an aqueous solution of a water-soluble rhodium compound and/or a water-soluble ruthenium compound for the support magnesium oxide prepared in the first step according to an equilibrium adsorption method, (iii) a third step for drying the rhodium- and/or ruthenium-supported magnesium oxide obtained in the second step at <=35 deg.C for at least >=6 h and (iv) a fourth step for baking the rhodium- and/or ruthenium-supported magnesium oxide in the dry state obtained in the third step at a high temperature of >=200 deg.C.
