PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively remove the coating unevenness occurring in a reciprocating operation direction by intersecting spray patterns by coating guns before these patterns are applied to a surface to be coated when the surface to be coated is finished to multicolor patterns by coating the surface with a plurality of liquid coatings to a dotty form by using the plurality of air mix coating guns which make reciprocating operation. SOLUTION: The plurality of coating guns 30 and 32 move reciprocatively in a lateral direction, i.e., in a reciprocating direction 34 and coat the surface 36 to be coated which is moved by a belt conveyor 38. The directions of the respective coating guns 30 and 32 are so determined as to intersect with each other before the respective spray patterns 42 and 44 respectively formed by the respective coating guns 30 and 32 strike against the surface to be coated. At this time, the distances from the nozzle tips of the respective coating guns 30 and 32 to the places where the central axes 46, 48 of the respective spray patterns 42 and 44 intersect with each other are set at 200 to 400 mm. The respective central axes 46, 48 of the respective spray pattern 42 and 44 are intersected with each other at an angleΘof intersection of 10 to 60 deg.. The coating unequalness may be effectively eliminated according thereto.
