PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize plain coloring with high quality in a short time and match colors well to a pattern part by forming a scan area divided to a plurality of areas in a direction orthogonal to a transfer direction of an object medium, using every one nozzle for each scan area and continuing straight lines of an ink of a similar shade color. SOLUTION: A scan direction is divided to four areas by heads 2A-2D. Every one nozzle for discharging ink of a similar shade color is used at each scan area, so that one continuous straight line of the similar shade color can be printed in one scan. Thereafter, a cloth 10 is sent by one pitch in a transfer direction by diving a feeding apparatus and heads 2A-2D are scanned in an opposite direction to print a second line. The second line is printed in tight contact with the first line, and therefore any streak, speck or the like is not generated. A band or face composed of the straight lines is formed by repeating the scan afterwards. The cloth 10 can be plain colored with the ink of the similar shade color without generating streaks, specks or the like.
