PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain hexapotassium titanate useful as a filler for thermoplastic resins and thermosetting resins by preparing particulate hexapotassium titanate having a specific aspect ratio and substantially comprising single crystals. SOLUTION: This particulate hexapotassium titanate having an aspect ratio of <10 (preferably 1-5), substantially comprising single crystals, having an average particle diameter of about l-10μm and an average particle length of about 5-10μm is obtained by mixing a titanium-containing compound, a potassium-containing compound and a boron-containing compound and subsequently calcining the mixture. The titanium-containing compound is desirably rutile type titanium dioxide, rhombic titanium dioxide or tetragonal titanium dioxide. The potassium-containing compound is desirably potassium oxide, potassium hydroxide or potassium carbonate. The boron-containing compound is desirably boron oxide, boron or boric acid. The calcination temperature is about 650-1,200 deg.C, and the calcination time is about 0.5-20 hr. The calcination atmosphere is an oxidizing atmosphere or the atmosphere.
