PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine synovial membrane lipase related to inflammatory diseases such as chronic rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, arteriosclerosis, etc., by measuring the amounts of A type and B type mammalian synovial membrane phospholipase A2 in a mammal-derived synovia sample. SOLUTION: This method for determining mammalian synovial membrane phospholipase A2 (sPLA2) A type and B type in a sample comprises using a mammal-derived synovia sample and measuring the amount of mammal synovial membrane phospholipase A2 (sPLA2) A type and B type in the sample in a quantitative analysis to determine the objective mammalian synovial membrane phospholipase A2. The quantitative analysis can be carried out by the measurement of enzyme activity using a radioactive immunoassay using a rabbit antihuman pancreatic synovia PLA2 or using dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine, etc., being a radioactively labeled synthetic substrate and provides an important means useful for designing antiinflammatory medicines related to symptoms of inflammatory diseases such as chronic rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, atherosclerosis, etc. |
