FIELD: rubber industry. SUBSTANCE: agent is prepared by interaction of sulfur with olefin or diene hydrocarbon (styrene, alpha-limonene, dicyclopentadiene, 5-ethylidene-2-norbornene) at sulfur-to-hydrocarbon molar ratio from 25:1 to 10:1 and in presence of 0.05 to 1 mole of maleic anhydride per 1 mole of unsaturated hydrocarbon at temperature 125 to 170 C. According to invention, introduction of unsaturated hydrocarbon and reaction thereof with sulfur are effected in one or two steps in presence of, at least in one step, products of interaction of maleic anhydride with diene hydrocarbons or unsaturated esters added in amounts 0.25 to 5.0% based on the weight of sulfur. Synthesis of vulcanization agent can be carried out with catalyst and optionally with synthetic resins or urea to bind mercaptanic by-products of vulcanization agent synthesis added in amounts 0.5 to 3.5 wt.% of sulfur.
