PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel that prevents adjacent gap discharges, to improve the display quality. SOLUTION: A front surface panel 12 of a plasma display panel has a front surface glass substrate 4, a maintained discharge electrode (X-electrode) 1, a maintained discharge electrode (Y-electrode) 2, a front surface dielectric layer 5, and high secondary electron emitting film 6. An adjacent gap 15 is provided with a low secondary electron emitting film 7, that has secondary electron emitting probability which is lower than that of the high secondary electron emitting film 6 is provided on the surface of the front surface dielectric layer 5. Vp [V], 0 [V], and Vp/2 [V] are respectively impressed on one maintained discharge electrode (X-electrode) 1, the other maintained discharge electrode (Y-electrode) 2, and a writing discharge electrode 3.
