PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means by which a user himself can easily and flexibly retrieve, select, extract, work and display data that he requires from a database and to reduce the cost of database application development. SOLUTION: A user sets the item, the display system and the condition of a production result which he intends to draw out from a data base. A schema retrieval part 2 retrieves schema definition information 11 which a database management system 10 manages based on information and issues and inquiry sentence 4 by an inquiry sentence generation part 3 by using obtained information of the data structure of the database. The database management system 10 storages production information from PLC(programmable logic controller) 6 monitoring/controlling production equipment 5 in the database 7. A retrieval result work part 8 shapes the retrieval result which the data base management system 10 takes out from the database 7 in accordance with a display system which the user sets in the input part 1 and displays it to an output part 9.
