PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which eliminates the possibility of a failure, is efficient and does not give rise to the distortion of an image and a process for producing printed circuit boards using this printer. SOLUTION: This printer irradiates photosetting films 9 formed on both surfaces of a base material 8 with exposure rays from above and below via a photomask 7. In such a case, the printer has light transparent upper frame 1 and lower frame 2 for fixing the base material 8 formed with the photosetting films 9 and the photomask 7. At least either of the upper frame 1 and the lower frame 2 are provided with light transparent upper plate 111 and lower plate 122, side walls 131, 132 for hermetically closing the spaces between the upper plate 111 and the lower plate 122. These side walls 131, 132 are provided with openings for supplying or discharging liquid or gas in part thereof. This process for producing the printed circuit boards consists in forming an etching resist, plating resist or solder resist by using this printer.
