<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type liquid crystal display element which can attain sufficient display brightness and a sufficient contrast ratio and realize a high quality screen display. SOLUTION: A light separating and reflecting film 6, which separates ambient white light entering through a viewing side glass substrate 1 into three, red, green, and blue colored light and reflects the separated three colored light to the viewing side is provided on the rear side glass substrate 2. A color development (separating) function and a reflecting function are accomplished with the one light separating and reflecting film 6. External light made incident on a liquid crystal layer 10 via a polarizing film 3, the glass substrate 1, a transparent electrode 4 and an alignment film 5, in the case it passes through the liquid crystal layer 10 after entering the layer 10 as it is, generates colors and is reflected with the light separating and reflecting film 6 and the separated and reflected light is visible from the side of the glass substrate 1.</p> |
