摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the rotary vibration of a device, and speed up head access and the transfer of data by providing a cut-out part at least one part of a case for accommodating parts in the device, and by installing a damper with a specific attenuation ratio or more at the cut-out part. SOLUTION: The case of a magnetic disk device is composed of a base 1 and a cover. A screw runner for installing the magnetic disk device to a frame or the like is provided on the side surface of the base 1. A cut-out part 17 for maintaining space for installing a damper 13 is provided at the base 1 and the cover for composing the case. The damper 13 is made of a viscoelastic member 16, is sandwiched by weights 14, and is installed by a screw 15. The weight 14 is displaced relative to the device, and the viscoelastic member 16 is deformed. The attenuation ratio of the damper 13 is preferably set to 0.2 or more, thus setting the effect of the damper 13 to a target line or more, and hence coping with the variations of the number of rotary vibration. The mass of the weight 14 for meeting a target for reducing vibration is determined.
