A core-filled thermal spraying wire, containing an atomized powder of an iron-chromium alloy of specified composition, is new. A filled wire, for thermal spraying of wear and/or corrosion resistant layers onto heat exchangers and firing units, contains a water and/or gas atomized powder of composition (by wt.) 15-35% Cr, 0-5% C and balance Fe. Preferred Features: The alloy may also contain: (a) 4-12% Si; (b) 0.5-6% each of Nb and V, the C content being 1-4%; or (c) 4-8% Al.
