During cigarette manufacture, the tobacco is treated in an assembly which applies a liquid which absorbed by the tobacco particles, thereby acquiring a flavor such as menthol. The liquid flavoring is forced by a propellant gas through tubes terminating in jets (30) directed at a continual flow of tobacco (22) in their cigarette forms. The cigarette forms are on a suction belt. The flavoring fluid is directed as a fine continuous spray at the moving tobacco particles. The jets are in contact with the moving tobacco.
