The separator is dismantled until only the drum and support rollers (7) in their support structure (not shown) remain. These are placed in the bath so that rollers (7) fit into bushes (12), welded below the base of the bath. The drum then sits inside the bath and rests on a close-fitting collar (10) that also acts as a seal. Ultrasound generators (16) are fitted below the base so that, as the bath is filled through pipe (14), the wash water is agitated as the drum rotates. In a simplified version the drum is entirely separated and placed on two rollers inside the bath. The spacing of these rollers is variable to accommodate drums of various diameters. One of the rollers is driven to rotate the drum.
