PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new 4-acylamino-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine derivative useful as a deterioration preventing agent esp. for high molecular compound. SOLUTION: This compound is shown by formula I (R1 is H, a hydroxyl, oxyradical, aliphatic group, acyl, aliphatic oxy or acyloxy; and R2 is a >=3C aliphatic group having >=2 hydroxyls), e.g. a compound of formula II. A compound of formula I can be synthesized by using a staring material of e.g. 4- amino-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine and reactions of e.g. amidation, alkylation, oxidation or reduction. The introduction of R2 is pref. conducted by an amidation reaction between an amine compound and lactone compound. The introduction of R1, e.g. in the case of alkylation, is by formalin reflux or a reaction between alkyl halide and potassium carbonate in dimethylformamide at 100 deg.C.
