PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain of a thin plate excellent in the surface quality without generating fine ruggedness and uneven brightness in the case of cold-rolling a thin cast slab and without generating warping and waviness in the thin cast slab at the time of coiling the strip state thin cast slab of a continuously cast austenitic stainless steel. SOLUTION: The strip state thin cast slab of the continuously cast austenitic stainless steel which anyone of Ti, Nb and Zr is not added, is coiled at 600 deg.C to <800 deg.C and after annealing under condition of holding to 900-1150 deg.C for 1-10 min, pickling is applied and further, cold-rolling is executed. In the case of containing 0.004-0.1 wt.% of at least one element among Ti, Nb and Zr as the total amount, the coiling temp. is regulated to at 600 deg.C to <1000 deg.C coiling temp. and at 900-1200 deg.C annealing temp.
