PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aq, ink which easily restores its normal jetting state even after left standing with its nozzle uncapped by preparing such an ink that it essentially comprises water, a water-soluble solvent, and a water-soluble dye and that the residue after evaporating volatile components of the ink is a liquid having a specified viscosity. SOLUTION: This ink essentially comprises water, pref. deionized water, in an amt. of pref. 40 wt.% (based on the total ink wt.; the same applies hereunder) or higher, a water-soluble solvent (e.g. diethylene glycol) in an amt. of pref. 5-40 wt.%, and a water-soluble dye (e.g. color index number Direct Red 227) in an amt. of pref. 0.01-7 wt.%, and the residue after evaporating volatile components of the ink is a liquid having a viscosity of at most 10 times that of the ink before the evaporating. If necessary, a polyhydric alcohol monoalkyl ether having a vapor pressure at 20 deg.C of 0.1 mmHg or lower, in an amt. of pref. 3-15 wt.%, is used as a penetrant. |
