PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an air conditioner and its control method in which the risk of fire or explosion is low while utilizing a flammable refrigerant and the manufacturing cost is inexpensive. SOLUTION: The air conditioner comprises a compressor 23, an indoor heat exchanger 11, and an outdoor heat exchanger 21. A flammable refrigerant is led in a refrigerant circuit connecting the compressor 23, the indoor heat exchanger 11, and the outdoor heat exchanger 21. The air conditioner comprises an electromagnetic expansion valve 24 provided on the refrigerant circuit between the outdoor heat exchanger 21 and the indoor heat exchanger 11 in which the compressor 23 does not exist, a flow interrupting device 25 provided on the refrigerant circuit between the indoor heat exchanger 11 and the outdoor heat exchanger 21 in which the compressor 23 exists, and an outdoor device control part 27 controlling the travel of the electromagnetic expansion valve 24, the operational condition of the compressor 23, and the opening/closing of the flow interrupting device 25, respectively. |
