PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire electric discharge machining device capable of easily and surely detecting a wire electrode roughly fully recovered in a wire recovering section by a wire recovery detecting mechanism, and advantageous in manufacturing costs by simplifying the structure of the wire recovery detecting mechanism. SOLUTION: A wire recovery detecting mechanism 15 is provided with a pair of electrodes 60 and 61 provided in the vicinity of the upper end of a wire recovery bucket 8, a notifying lamp 62 as a notifying means, conductor lines 63 and 64 for respectively connecting the pair of electrodes 60 and 61 to the notifying lamp 62, and a power source 65 provided in the conductor line 63 in series to the notifying lamp 62. When the pair of electrodes 60 and 61 are electrically connected via a wire electrode 5a recovered in the wire recovery bucket 8, a closed circuit including the wire electrode 5a and the conductor lines 63 and 64 is formed, and the notifying lamp 62 is operated by the application of a voltage to emit a light.
