PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat shielding coating series for parts used under a severe thermal environment, such as turbine, combustor and augmenter of a gas turbine engine. SOLUTION: A heat shielding coating series 20 is constituted by forming a heat shielding ceramic layer 26 on a bonding coat 24 of nickel aluminide alloy. The nickel aluminide bonding coat 24 is mainly composed ofβ-NiAl phase and contains zirconium. It is preferable to form the bonding coat 24 by physical vapor deposition, such as magnetron sputtering, electron beam physical vapor deposition, jet vapor deposition, and plasma thermal spraying. The NiAl bonding coat 24 to which 0.05-0.5 atomic % zirconium is added exhibits greatly improved thermal fatigue life as compared with the conventional bond coat, and zirconium content of the order of 0.1 atomic % gives the best result.
