摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystal medium capable of developing a wide nematic phase range, or the like, a high specific resistance and a low threshold voltage by making the liquid crystal medium include a mixture of specific polar compounds having positive dielectric anisotropy. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal medium comprises a mixture of polar compounds each having positive dielectric anisotropy as a base. The liquid crystal medium comprises a component composed of (A) one or more compounds of formula I (Halogen is F or Cl; R is a 1-7C alkyl, oxaalkyl, fluoroalkyl or alkenyl) and (B) one or more compounds of formula II (R1 and R2 are each a 1-9C n-alkyl, a n-alkoxy or the like; A to A are each 1,4phenylene, 2- or 3-fluoro-1,4-phenylene or the like; Z1 and Z2 are each CH2CH2, C≡C or the like; (m) is 0, 1 or 2) each having -1.5 to +1.5 dielectric anisotropy. Preferably, the content ratio of the component A is 10-50 wt.% based on the whole mixture.
