PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starter device which stops an engine once in a temporary stop and can suppress a sense of incongruity given to a driver in a restarting time. SOLUTION: A starter device 1 has a ring gear 2, a starter 3, and a control device 4. The starter 3 has the first relay 11, the second relay 12, a magnet switch 13, and a starter motor 14. The starter motor 14 has a field coil 30 and an armature 31. The armature 31 has a main body part 32 and an output shaft 33. At the front end 33a of the output shaft 33, a pinion gear 7 is provided. The control device 4 stops the engine in a temporary stop, and turns on the first relay 11 to engage the pinion gear 7 and the ring gear 2. When an accelerator pedal is operated, the control device 4 turns on the second relay 12, to rotate the output shaft 33, so as to restart the engine.
