PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet print head cleaning device to be used in an ink jet printer having an ink jet head defining a plurality of orifices for ejecting ink drops. SOLUTION: An ink cleaning cavity 80 for storing a cleaning liquid is provided away from a printing position. A roller 119 is disposed in the cleaning cavity 80 and is partially dipped into the cleaning liquid 95 to be away from a structure. The roller 119 is rotated so that the liquid is coats it and is conveyed by virtue of the surface tension on the circumference of the roller 119. Since an orifice is cleaned by the cleaning liquid 95 conveyed to a print head passing through the cleaning cavity 80 by virtue of the roller 119, the printer head is disposed in the vicinity of a cleaning roller 91.
