PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition having excellent detergency against oily dirt in the oral cavity and yet not irritating the oral mucosa by including a non-ionic surfactant, polyhydric alcohol and reduced starch hydrolysate. SOLUTION: This composition is obtained by including (A) 0.1-10.0 wt.%, pref., 0.2-5.0 wt.% of a non-ionic surfactant, (B) 0.05-30%, pref., 0.1-20 wt.% of a polyhydric alcohol and (C) 0.001-10.0 wt.%, pref., 0.001-5.0 wt.% of reduced starch hydrolysate acquired by hydrolyzing purified starch followed by hydrogenation and purification. As the component A, polyxyethylene-hardened caster oil, polyoxyethylene alkyl ether, fatty acid ethanolamide or the like is pref. used. As the component B, propylene glycol, polyethylene glycol, glycerol, orbital, xylitol or the like is used. Preferably, the component C has a number- average molecular weight of 650-850.
