PURPOSE: A device for locking a sliding door is provided to prevent a hook from colliding with doorposts by improving the structure in order that a rotating piece isn't rotated in case the door is completely closed. CONSTITUTION: A device for locking a sliding door includes a housing(1), a knob(3), a rotating piece(6), doorposts(12) of the door, a stopper(15), a striker(16), an elastic member(17) and a hole(18), etc. When the door is opened, the striker(16) for limiting rotation of the knob(3) is exposed to the exterior of the housing(1) through the hole(18) by restoring power of the elastic member(17). The stopper(15) of the striker(16) maintains connection with the rear step of the rotating piece(6) and thereby the knob(3) isn't rotated even in the condition that the door isn't completely closed. But if the door is closed again and again in case the striker(16) is connected to the doorposts(12) of the door, the rotating piece(6) is released and the knob(3) is rotated.
