PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium having a transparent magnetic layer which is extremely less in the degradation in the output of a magnetic head at the time of input and output of a magnetic signal and has less electrification fog as a photographic sensitive material and the magnetic recording medium which has the decreased gaps by the higher density of a coating film and substantially prevents the penetration of a developer. SOLUTION: This magnetic recording medium is constituted by forming a transparent conductive layer on one side on a nonmagnetic base and forming the transparent magnetic layer on this transparent conductive layer. The recording medium has a conductive material in the transparent conductive layer and the turbidity of the nonmagnetic base and the coating layer is <=12 ppm. The total thickness of the nonmagnetic base and the coating layer is 75 to 90 microns.
