PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a reference pattern possible to be formed on an image carrier with the short peripheral length, even in the case of adopting transfer material with a large peculiar size. SOLUTION: In this method for forming the color image by forming the reference pattern for respective color with use of an optical writing unit and developing device respectively provided for each color, outside the image area on the image carrier detecting density thereof, and setting the image forming condition based on the detecting result, the time of forming the reference pattern in accordance with the size of the transfer paper and the time of detecting the density of the reference patter is respectively changed. In such a manner, even in the case of adopting the transfer paper of the large peculiar size, the reference pattern can be formed on the image carrier whose peripheral length is short, therefore the miniaturization of the image forming device is contributed thereby. |
