PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical module which is applicable to wide-ranging usages, whose cost is low, which is high in mass-productivity and whose performance is satisfactory. SOLUTION: An optical element substrate 4 having light emitting elements 8 and optical parts such as first and second lenses 1, 2, optical isolator 5 are housed in a package 6 made of resin in a state in which the parts are arrangedly fixed to an optical part arrangement base 3 made of a metal and both ends 30, 31 of the optical part arrangement base 3 are engaged with through-hole parts 12 formed in the package 6 and the parts are exposed at the surface of the package 6. In the package 6, lead terminals 7 for connecting an optical module to the substrate of the opposite side of the connection are provided so as to pierce the package from the inside of the package 6 to the outside of the package 6 and attaching heights of the terminals 7 to the package are made to become roughly the same heights at drawing-out heights of bonding wires 9 which are drawn out from the light emitting elements 8.
