PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focal-plane shutter capable of excellently stopping a blade group at the time of finishing exposure traveling. SOLUTION: A front blade group is composed of two arms 5 and 6 and four blades 7, 8, 9 and 10 pivotally supported by the arms, and a rear blade group is composed of two arms 13 and 14 and four blades 15, 16, 17 and 18. At the time of finishing the exposure traveling, the front blade group is stopped by making the edge of the vicinity of a position where the blade 8 is pivotally supported by the arm 6 abut on the edge of the vicinity of a position where the blade 7 is pivotally supported by the edge of the arm 5. The rear blade group is stopped by making the edge of the vicinity of a position where the slit forming blade 18 is pivotally supported by the arm 13 abut on the edge of the vicinity of a position where the blade 17 is pivotally supported by the edge of the arm 14. Therefore, a stopper directly acting on each arm is not required. Since a distance between two pivotally supporting parts of the respective blades does not get short as in the conventional manner, the respective blades are prevented from being bent.
