PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate with a small circuit scale two or more kinds of high definition(HD) image signals by using prediction coefficient data and specific image data, so as to conduct arithmetic processing to estimate an output image signal. SOLUTION: A standard definition(SD) image signal is given to a data vertical inversion circuit 13, where vertical inversion processing is applied to the signal for each field, an area segmentation section 4 segments pixels from the SD image signal, and a motion class decision circuit 5 detects motion. The area segmentation circuit 2 segments pixels from the SD image signal. An adaptive dynamic range coding(ADRC) circuit 3 compresses an output of the circuit 2, and an area segmentation circuit 7 segments pixels used for estimation arithmetic operation from an output of a field dependent data vertical inversion circuit 13. A class code generating circuit 6 conducts arithmetic operation, based on a space class and a motion class. An estimate arithmetic circuit 10 generates HD pixels by an arithmetic operation, based on an output of the area segmentation circuit 7 and coefficient data fed from a memory 9 and gives them to a horizontal interpolation filter 11. |
