<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure improved detection sensitivity in a total range up to the requested maximum detection range in a radar device for detecting the distance to a target object and the relative velocity using a radar wave where frequency is doubly modulated by a DC modulation component and a periodical modulation component. SOLUTION: When a requested maximum detection distance is set to Rmax, the space wavelength of a radar wave with a frequency Fs of a periodical modulation component is set toλs (=c/Fs: c indicates light speed) and the frequency Fs of the periodical modulation component is set so thatλs/2 > Rmax can be satisfied. A beat signal being obtained by transmitting and receiving a radar wave being modulated by the periodical modulation component and mixing the transmitted and received signal decreases its signal intensity when distance to a target object is equal to an integer multiple ofλs/2 but does not decrease its signal intensity (and hence detection sensitivity) within a range up to the maximum detection distance Rmax due toλs/2 > Rmax.</p> |
