PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lever fitting type connector capable of maintaining the initial fitting state of a lever without thickening the thickness of the lever and of performing a lever rotating operation easily. SOLUTION: In this lever fitting type connector, a lever 22 is rotatably journalled to a male connector 21 by a boss part 27 to form an engagingly fitting piece 38 for temporarily fixing at the rear-end side lower part of a sidewall 28 of the lever 22. At the rear end lower part of the male connector 21, a temporarily fixing block 37 and the engagingly fitting piece 38 for temporary fixing is set to be engagingly fit on the temporary fixing block 37 in the initial fitting state. In a hood part 32 of a female connector 23, a release plate 39 for releasing engaging-fitting with the temporarily fixing block 37 to the temporary fixing engaging fitting piece 38 is formed. By such constitution, when the male connector 21 is fit into the hood part 32, an engaging projection 30 can be inserted easily into a guide groove 34. Further, since repulsion is given only to the engagingly fitting piece 38 for temporarily fixing, thickening the thickness of the lever 22 is not required and the rotating operation of the lever 22 can be performed easily.
