PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to rapidly eliminate residual images when a power source is turned off by maintaining the voltage on gate lines at the potential at which the channels of TFTs are opened during the time of a specified period when the power source is turned off, thereby discharging the charges charged in liquid crystal cells to a source line side. SOLUTION: A gate driver 20 successivelyy drives the pixels on a liquid crystal display panel 40 by one line each by successively supplying scanning pulses to (m) pieces of gate lines 11. A data driver 30 supplies the video signals corresponding to the logic values of video data of red, green and blue respectively to (n) pieces of data lines 13 in synchronization with the scanning palus. A gate low voltage generating section 4 subjects gate low voltage Vg1 to level shifting to the base potential GND or above to form the channels of TFTs (MN) when a supply power source is shut off, thereby allowing the charges charged in the liquid crystal cells 12 and auxiliary capacitors 14 to be discharged to the source line 13 side through the drains and sources of the TFTs (MN).
