PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device where an image resulting from photographing an undesired ray is not displayed on a display section even in the case that a lens is removed during photographing. SOLUTION: This image pickup device is provided with a lens unit 300 that is freely detachably mounted on an image pickup device main body 100 to form an image of light from an object, an image pickup section 14 that is placed in the image pickup device main body 100 and generates an object image formed by the lens unit 300 through photoelectric conversion, a display section 28 that displays an image photographed by the image pickup section 14, a detection section 124 that detects an attached/detached state of the lens unit 300 to/from the image pickup device main body 100, and a control section 50 that stops an operation of the display section 28 when the detection section 124 detects it that the lens unit 300 is removed from the image pickup device main body 100.
