PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a working program editing method for preparing working process information based on a working program in the working program editing method for editing the working program used in a numerically controlled machine tool controlled by a numerical controller, and the controller of the machine tool capable of making an operator select a part of the working program from a screen and executing only the selected part. SOLUTION: This working program editing method is provided with a step for preparing the working process information for indicating the break of a working process unit from the working program, the step for storing the working process information and the step for displaying the working process information and stores and displays information relating to a working process obtained from the working program based on the working process specified on the working program separately from the working program. Also, this controller of the machine tool is provided with a selection information input means 6 for selecting the working program to be executed by a working process unit based on the working process information and a selected working execution means 13 for executing only the selected part.
