PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow the image reader to perform color reproduction suitable for a photo film by shielding or absorbing an infrared ray. SOLUTION: The light from a lamp 32 is transmitted through a photo film and this transmitted light is separated into color components red, green, blue by color separation filters 66A, 66B, 66C, which are read by a line CCD 116. Since the green and red color separation filters 66B, 66C are respectively provided with a filter 46 that shields an infrared ray, even when the red color sensitivity is set toward a longer wavelength in matching with a spectral absorption characteristic of a coloring material of the photo film, loss of the sensitivity is avoided to attain excellent color reproduction.
