PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent dust on a disk from being stuck to a magnetic head by moving the head positioned at a retract position from the position to a position on the disk periodically while allowing a microprocessor to make an arbitrary current flow through a VCM for an arbitrary time according to a firmware at the time of a non-recording/reproduction. SOLUTION: A microprocessor reads out a controlled variable in accordance with the value of a current which is to be made to flow through a VCM and a time when the current is made to flow the VCM which are preliminarily determined from a ROM, and controls the VCM through a VCM/motor control driver in order to seek the magnetic head periodically while suppressing the increase of power consumption at the time of a non-read/write. The value of the current to be made to flow through the VCM and a time when the current is to be made to flow through the VCM are preliminarily determined by a range in which the head is to be moved to be stored in the ROM. The magnetic head 26 at the time of the non-read/write is seeked from a retract position thereafter the head in which VCM current is cut repeats an operation in which it is induced to the retract position by a retracting force periodically.
