PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera system and its control method where a configuration of a count decoder is simplified. SOLUTION: In the camera system where a phase of an external synchronizing signal is adjusted in compliance with a television system given externally and an internal synchronizing signal is generated based on the external synchronizing signal after its phase is adjusted, a field discrimination circuit 44 discriminates whether a field at the reception of the external synchronizing signal is an odd numbered field or an even numbered field, a vertical counter 41 is reset only when the discrimination results indicates either of the fields, and a reset value in the unit set to one field by a reset value setting section 46 is loaded to a vertical counter 41 via a gate circuit 45.
