PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focal-plane shutter for a camera capable of obtaining stable actuation even when the length of a slit forming blade is shorter than in the conventional manner and realizing the miniaturization of a shutter. SOLUTION: The blades 16, 17, 18 and 19 of a rear blade group are constituted so that their leading ends may slide between an intermediate plate 6 and a blade pressing plate 20. A recessed part 20a is formed in an actuation area where the slit forming blade 19 is bounded and inverted in the final stage of exposure traveling on the plate 20, and the edge of one part of the recessed part 20a is formed to be gradually separated from an exposure aperture forming periphery toward the above-mentioned inverting direction. Even when the blade 19 is bounded with a run-away phenomenon, the end face of the leading edge of the blade 19 is prevented from colliding with the end face of the edge of the plate 20. Then, the blade 19 is shortened and the shutter is miniaturized.
