Pairs of separator lenses (83A-F) each divide an image in scanning zones in two separate images produced on light receivers, and separator mask (81) in front of the separator lenses is slotted out give slot pairs matching the lenses (81A-81F) so each slot defines the beam bundle entering each allocated lens (83) so that first and second beam bundles strike separate scanning zone (212A-F) and are in this way directed in parallel and mutually spaced at right angles to the light receiver elements e.g. photodiodes. The second auxiliary lenses of the deflector are arranged ahead of the pairs of separator lens slots so the optical axes of the auxiliary lens is in each case de-centered from that of the respective slot pair.
