A device for removing a thrombus filter (10) from a blood vessel (A) is disclosed. A device in accordance with the present invention includes a shaf t (30) having a proximal end, a distal end (31), a lumen extending therethroug h, a wire having a first end, and second end, the wire being partially disposed within the lumen of the shaft, a portion of the wire extending beyond the distal end of the shaft and forming a loop (32), and a portion of the wire extending beyond the proximal end of the shaft.
