<p>An excitation apparatus for a generator comprises an AC/AC inverter (29) having a voltage holding function and connected to an output line (2) of an AC generator (1), namely what consists of: an AC/DC converter (13); a capacitor (14) connected to an output of this AC/DC converter (13); and a DC/AC converter (15) connected to this capacitor (14), and excites an field winding (12) of the generator (1) with an AC/DC converter (10) controllable with a current and connected to the output side of the AC/AC inverter (29) having the voltage holding function. Even when a voltage of the output line (2) is lowered due to a failure occurred in a system (4), since energy stored in the capacitor (14) is discharged and the voltage is maintained for the time being, the excitation current of the generator (1) can be kept at a sufficiently high value. <IMAGE></p> |
