PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an excellent restraining effect to odor by preparing a deodorizing agent for restraining the odor caused in a treating process of sewerage and night soil by incorporating one or more kinds selected from the group of Mo, Mo compounds, W, and W compounds. SOLUTION: At the time of preparing the deodorizing agent, the Mo, Mo compounds, W, and W compounds in a crystalline powder state are used in order to economically treat the odor generated from a lot quantity of sludge. One portion of the Mo compounds may be constituted of an aqueous agent. This deodorizing agent in a powder state or a liquid agent prepared with a specified concentration is added to contamination water or sludge in a state uniformly mixed. The concentration of the aqueous liquid of the Mo compounds or the W compounds as deodorizing agent is not specified but in a normal case it is about 10 wt.%.
