PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a cationically polymerizable resin composition, capable of omitting a process for removing a solvent after the production of the resin composition. SOLUTION: This method for producing a cationically polymerizable resin composition substantially containing no solvent comprises radically copolymerizing (a) a cationically polymerizable unsaturated monomer containing a polymerizable unsaturated group and an epoxy group or oxetane group, if necessary, with (b) one or more other polymerizable unsaturated monomers in the presence of (c) a cationically polymerizable compound having a viscosity of <=500 mPa.s at 40 deg.C, not containing a polymerizable unsaturated group and containing an epoxy group or oxetane ring. A cationically polymerizable composition comprises 100 pts.wt. of a cationically polymerizable binder component containing the cationically polymerizable resin composition obtained by the production method and 0.01-20 pts.wt. of a cation polymerization initiator.
