<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a latch unit with a built-in mechanism for preventing engagement from releasing without expection at the time of emergency, and without generating an obstacle in engaging operation and unlatching operation at the time of usual use. SOLUTION: A latch unit has a casing 1 provided with a holding chamber 11 and a side chamber 17 of a striker S, and a respondent body 2 fitted into the side chamber 17. The holding chamber 11 and the side chamber 17 are divided by an elastic piece 18 protruded toward an introducing opening 12 of the striker S. The elastic piece 18 has an engaging protrusion 18c engaged with the striker S on an internal side of the holding chamber 11 in association with inserting of the striker S. The side chamber 17 is provided with an energization means 3 for location the respondent body 2 to the base side of the elastic piece 18. When engagement with the elastic piece 18 is released to actuate inertia force, etc., of magnitude to make the striker S come out of the holding chamber 11, energizing force of the energization means 3 has such a magnitude that movement of the respondent body 2 to a position where a bend of the elastic piece 18 is obstructed is allowed.</p> |
