PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cleaning agent for heat exchangers which decreases the time and labor for cleaning heat exchanger fins, inhibits the corrosion of the fins, and is inhibited from frothing after being spouted, thus enabling the fins as a whole to be effectively cleaned. SOLUTION: This cleaning agent is prepd. by compounding a petroleum solvent, an oil-phase-soluble surfactant having an HLB of 2-6.5, a water-phase- soluble surfactant having an HLB of 16-20, and water and compounding the resultant cleaning liquid of an oil-in-water emulsion type with a liquefied gas as a propellant to give an aerosol spray type cleaning agent. Pref., the content of the oil-phase-soluble surfactant is 0.5-2 wt.%, and that of the water-phase- soluble surfactant is 0.2-1 wt.%. The petroleum solvent is pref. a glycol ether, still pref. 3-methyl-3-methoxybutanol and is pref. contained in a concn. of 1-20 wt.%.
