PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain excellent coating efficiency even with a dispersion of high concentration and of high viscosity by installing a pocket holding the liquid at the outlet of a slot of a die coater. SOLUTION: A slot 13 is formed between dies 11 and 12 of a die coater 10. A space as a pocket 14 holding a coating liquid is so formed at the outlet of the slot 13 as to make the coating liquid adhere by sufficient contact with the supporting body 1. Lips 15 and 16 are respectively formed on the end points of the dies 15 and 16 of the outlet and the gap between the lips 15 and 16 and the supporting body 1 gives sufficient force to the liquid while the supporting body 1 passes through, resulting in an adequate coating film. Hence even when a dispersion of high viscosity is used as the coating liquid, the fluidity of the coating liquid is kept uniform and an excellent coating is obtained.
