PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact device for supporting a nipping rail used for carrying stem culms, having a simple structure, and giving a necessary rail- projecting stroke. SOLUTION: In this device for supporting a nipping rail used for carrying stem culms, a pair of support rods 12, 13 attached to the nipping rail 9 are slidably fit into a holder 14 in a direction approaching or leaving a plant foot- carrying chain 8, and an elastic mechanism 15 for energizing the projection of the nipping rail 9 in the direction approaching the plant foot-carrying chain 8 is disposed between a holder 14 and portions 16 for fixing the support rods 12, 13. Two slidable curved plate springs 17, 17 spun over a pair of the support rods 12, 13 are disposed in the holder 14 in a mutually back to back state to constitute the elastic mechanism 15.
