PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a water resistance and to improve drapability of a coloring agent by smoothing an outer surface of a transfer layer, by forming a thermal transfer layer provided on a base by incorporating a specific amount of gathering an ethylene-polar monomer copolymer and a salt of a fatty acid having specific number of carbons. SOLUTION: In the thermal transfer recording medium having a thermal transfer layer containing a coloring agent and a binder on a base, the transfer layer is formed by incorporating 5 to 99 wt.% of gathering (A) an ethylene-polar monomer copolymer and (B) a salt of a fatty acid having 25 to 60 of number of carbons. Or, the transfer layer is formed by incorporating 5 to 99 wt.% of gathering (A) an ethylene-polar monomer copolymer, (B) a salt of a fatty acid having 25 to 60 of number of carbons and (B') a fatty acid having 25 to 60 of number of carbons and/or a fatty acid ester having 25 to 60 of number of carbons. As (A) the ethylene-polar monomer copolymer, an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer or an ethylene-(meth)acrylic ester copolymer is preferable. |
